FAQs
What is included in the furniture moving service?
Cooper Installation Services will move most standard furniture items such as couches, tables, chairs, dressers, and other common types of furniture. Unfortunately, we do not move Pool Tables, Aquariums, Pianos, Antique items, electronics, personal items, or other similar items.
If you have any questions about a specific piece of furniture, please reach out to our office at 972-245-3766 or Toll Free at 1-866-356-6792.
Do I need to be present for the installation?
We ask that someone at least 18 years of age who can make decisions about the project be on site. We will want to confirm the correct materials were ordered and we may have questions on install preference. Once the project is complete to your satisfaction, you will be asked to sign our customer approval form.
I received a window of arrival for my installation, will anyone call when they are on the way?
Yes, our crews will notify you 30 minutes before they arrive to narrow down the window. If you need more than 30 minutes notification, simply let our office know and we will arrange for a custom notification.

What utilities need to be available for my flooring installation?
For most installations we will require electricity and a temperature-controlled HVAC system set between 65°and 85° F. For Hard Surface installs such as wood or tile we will also require access to a water source.
How long will my project take?
This greatly depends on the services you are receiving and the quantity. Typically, a Carpet installation will be completed in a single day. Hard Surface Flooring may require multiple days to complete. Most larger projects can be completed in about a week.
Will you replace my tack strips when you install my new carpet?
This is one time where newer is not necessarily better. We will replace damaged tack strips at no charge. However, if the tack strips are in good condition it is usually better to leave them in place. Tack Strips are nailed directly to the subfloor and removing them will add unnecessary holes in your subfloor. For concrete subfloors it may not be possible to nail down new tack strips and could result in other methods of install that can greatly impact the completion time.
Are there any temperature requirements for my new flooring?
For Carpet Installation we ask that the temperature of the home be between 65° and 85° F three days before and three days after installation. This will create an environment that allows new carpet to stretch properly and reduce the chance of wrinkles in the future.
For Wood and Laminate installations, we ask that the temperature of the home be between 65° and 85° F and a humidity range between 35% and 55%. This should be maintained 14 days prior to, during, and after installation to allow for proper acclimation and to maintain manufacture warranty.
Should I Install my cabinets or bathtub before or after my flooring remodel?
Flooring should typically be the last trade on a project. Depending on the type of flooring you choose, installing permanent cabinetry or a bathtub over the floor covering could void the manufacture warranty.
Some cabinet styles that are on legs or free standing tubs should be installed after the flooring project. However, this style of cabinet or bathtub could impact what type of flooring can be installed.
Is my home at risk for Lead Paint?
If your home was built before 1978 then your home may contain lead paint. Certain renovations will require the disturbance of paint such as door installation or removing painted trim. Most flooring installs can be performed without the disturbance of paint and will not require testing. However, if the scope of work does require us to disturb a painted surface we will need to test for the presence of lead before starting work.
For more information, please visit https://www.epa.gov/lead.
Why did I receive an email from Cooper Installations asking me to sign for a Lead Paint Pamphlet?
For Homes built pre-1978 with labor that could result in the disturbance of paint, Contractors are required to provide you with a Renovate Right Lead Paint Pamphlet and obtain a signature before starting work.
Receiving this email does not mean that your home has lead paint but depending on the quoted labor a lead test may be required.
I have purchased Carpet and Wood from The Home Depot, which should I have installed first?
We suggest installing your Hard Surface first. When installing Wood, Tile, or other hard surfaces the construction process is a bit more involved. The hard surface is also much easier to clean and protect than carpet.
I have made my purchase with Home Depot, when can I expect the project to start?
Most projects require materials to be ordered and shipped to our warehouse or the store before we can begin the install. Once we know the status of your products, we will call you to schedule our best availability.
